Frequently Asked Questions

  • What Does My Warranty Cover?

The manufacturer of Fresh Roof takes so much pride in their product that they offer a 6-year transferable warranty, the longest warranty in the industry. It guarantees that the asphalt shingles we treat will remain flexible for at least 6 years from the treatment date. And since we know you may not necessarily live under the same roof for the next 6 years, the warranty is fully transferable without restrictions. It remains valid even if the shingle manufacturer’s warranty is void because of transfer restrictions, time, or any other limitation included in manufacturers’ warranties. The warranty will be active for another 6 years for each treatment you get, and Fresh Roof can treat your roof as often as your roof is standing.

  • How Do I Know if I Need a Fresh Roof Treatment?

The best time to get your roof treated by Fresh Roof is when the asphalt shingles start to show signs of drying out and losing their flexibility. This usually happens when the roof is between 6 and 10 years old. However, sometimes, we treat roofs that are 15 to 20 years old and have even been able to save roofs up to 30 years old.

Asphalt roofs begin drying out and becoming brittle at different rates. Most roofs are ready for a Fresh Roof treatment by the time they are 6 to 10 years old. But don’t worry if your roof is older than that and hasn’t yet been treated. We have treated much older roofs up to 30 years old and have been able to extend the life for a guaranteed 6 years.

The most significant sign to look for is a loss of flexibility in the roof shingles. So, how do you know if your shingles are drying out and losing their flexibility?

Asphalt shingles contain asphalt granules, which are small, sand-like pebbles that stick together when the shingles’ natural oils are still intact. But once those oils start to dry out with age, the granules begin flaking off, and you may see them in your gutters, downspouts, etc. Other signs your roof is drying out include black stains and streaks or shingles cracking, breaking, and curling. • What is the Cost of a Fresh Roof Treatment?

The average cost of treatment is 15%—20% of the cost of a new roof. Please visit our savings page for more information.

  • Is the Application Safe?

Yes. Fresh Roof is an all-natural plant-based oil, so it’s safe for people, plants, pets, and the environment.

  • Will a Fresh Roof Treatment Clean My Roof?

A Fresh Roof treatment aims to extend the life of your aging shingles. That means restoring the function of the shingle. Fresh Roof can have a cleaning effect over time because it kills algae or moss on your roof, but its purpose is not to clean the roof. If you have significant algae or moss on your roof and desire a clean roof in addition to extending its life, we will soft wash your roof and ensure it is cleaned first, and then have a Fresh Roof treatment scheduled approximately 1 week later. You’ll be amazed at the difference in appearance, color enhancement, added life, and savings!

  • How Long Does a Treatment Take?

A typical treatment usually takes 1 to 2 hours, depending on the size of your roof.

  • How Long Does a Treatment Last?

An average treatment will last 5 to 8 years and can be repeated. Fresh Roof works best if applied when shingles are new.

  • Will Fresh Roof Affect My Homeowners Insurance

Most likely in a positive way, if at all! For example, there have been many instances where a Fresh Roof application has helped property owners get insurance coverage after receiving an insurance notice about their roof needing replacing. Of course, every situation is different, so we can’t make any guarantees. But with our expertise and experience, we can help point you in the right direction.
